DAY 13—There are three factors of hope to which we cling. One is that we can live in close communion with the Lord Jesus. |
Our greatest factor of hope is the Word which we ...have heard from the beginning. In this Word is the promise of eternal life that is ours in Christ Jesus. When we are holding on to what He has promised us, we are holding the everlasting hope that is ours in Him. We remember Paul’s word that says, Thanks be to God which always causeth us to triumph in Christ (II Cor 2:14). There will be those who try to seduce us away from this triumph and leave us with no hope. But if we hold, day by day, to the triumph that is ours in Christ, we can remain strong through the time of trouble that the tempter hopes to impose upon us.
I John 2:24-26—Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal Life. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you (concerning them that lead you astray, that cause you to wander).
NIrV—Make sure that you don’t forget what you have heard from the beginning. Then you will remain joined to the Son and to the Father. That’s what God has promised us. We have eternal Life. I’m writing these things to warn you about those who are trying to lead you down the wrong path.
LORD, please put within my spirit that work of Your Spirit that will keep me close to You. It’s when I know Your strong embrace within my heart, and when I know Your presence, that the enemy has no chance of drawing me away from You.
